Drum Majors

Jake Finn

Jake Finn (Head Drum Major) - Email

War Eagle! My name is Jake Finn, and I am honored to return for my second season as an AUMB Drum Major and my first season as Head Drum Major.

I graduated from Montevallo High School in 2008 and transferred to Auburn from the University of Montevallo (where I studied music education) in the Fall of 2011.  I am now a Senior studying Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Tribology.  This will be my fifth year in the AUMB and fourth year on the leadership team, including two previous years as tuba section leader.  I have served 6 years in the army reserves, stationed in Birmingham, Al with the 313th Army Band. I have also played bass trombone and euphonium with the Auburn Symphonic winds for three years and tuba and trombone with the Dean’s Brass Quintet for three years.

Through all of my experiences in both school and band, I have found that one of the most important qualities of a successful program is ‘family.’   The transition from high school to college can be rough, but with the help of your colleagues, you can do anything!  I strongly believe in the spirit of the AUMB, and that every bit of hard work that you put into this program will be reciprocated back to you.  The AUMB promotes responsibility, integrity, passion, hard work, and leadership.  Not only will you take these qualities with you as you move on to new stages in your life, but you will also gain a new network of friends that is stronger than any other you may have experienced.  I hope that you consider joining the AUMB family, and if you have any questions concerning your future at Auburn University please feel free to shoot me an email!

Jonathan Corona

Jonathan Corona - Email

War Eagle! My name is Jonathan Corona, and I am honored to serve as a drum major for the 2015 Auburn University Marching Band. I am a senior from Rome, Georgia pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Environmental Design and my Masters Degree in Community Planning with a concentration in transportation. I’ve previously served as a proud member of the trombone section for the past 2 seasons.

In addition to being a part of the AUMB, I have participated in the Auburn Jazz Ensemble, served as an Assistant Director for Freshman Leadership Programs, an SOS Transfer Student Orientation Leader, the President of Auburn Mentoring Program, and a National Officer for Silver Wings. All of these experiences, as well as many others, have allowed me to discover my passion for leadership, character-building, and teamwork.

I didn’t begin my marching band career until my sophomore year, so I found several opportunities to engage myself on campus throughout my freshman year. However, joining the AUMB was absolutely the best decision I’ve made since choosing Auburn as my home. Being a part of an organization that exemplifies the qualities of Auburn men and women has challenged me to develop not only my music and marching skills, but also my character, and I cannot wait to start another great season! I look forward to seeing all of you at preseason camp! If you have any questions about the marching band or Auburn in general, please don’t hesitate to contact me via e-mail or find me on Facebook. War Eagle!
