Seventy-nine Auburn University students and 16 faculty and staff will spend 10 days in China on a musical performance tour taking them to Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. They were invited by the United States-China Cultural and Educational Foundation to the People’s Republic of China for the musical tour to promote cultural and educational exchange between the two countries. The Auburn University Symphonic Band will be leaving for China on Friday March 9. While in China they travel to and perform in many cities and locations such as the Shandong Arts Theater and the Shanghai University Theater.

The Auburn University Bands is proud to partner with Teloga.com – a new online Ensemble Management System created by Auburn Band Alum Steven Clontz and Auburn Alum James Dabbs. As a Teloga user, you can create an online profile with your contact information and “connect” it to the Auburn University Bands, which you can update yourself at any time! In addition, you can use that same profile to connect with other participating networks, such as the Auburn University Choirs and other music programs on the horizon. And soon, Teloga will also manage online registration for AU Bands ensembles and events; by automatically including the information you’ve already given in your profile, registering for an AU Bands event will be quicker and easier than ever.

Thanks to everyone who came and auditioned for this fall’s Symphonic Winds. I enjoyed listening to all who showed up. The Auburn University Symphonic Winds have been invited by the United States – China Cultural and Educational Foundation to the People’s Republic of China for a performance tour of approximately 10 days.  The tour is tentatively set to take place in the Spring of 2012, around Spring Break (between March 8 – 20).
