Michael Cater

Michael Cater is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Music Education while serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Auburn University Bands. Prior to his appointment at Auburn, he served as Director of Bands at Carrollton High School and Band Director at Heard County High School in Georgia. He instructed instrumental music for ten years in grades 6-12 in the Georgia public schools.

Cater recently received his Educational Specialist Degree in Music Education from Auburn University in August of 2017. Prior to his appointment at Auburn, he received his Master of Music Education and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from the University of West Georgia where he studied saxophone and conducting with John Bleuel. Mr. Cater’s professional affiliations include membership with the Alabama Music Educators Association, the National Bandmaster’s Association, the National Association for Music Education, and an honorary member of the Theta Lamda Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Service Sorority.
