Drum Majors

Sarah Niedzwiecki

Sarah Niedzwiecki - smn0012@auburn.edu

War Eagle, y’all! My name is Sarah Niedzwiecki, and I am so excited and honored to serve as your Head Drum Major for the 2019 AUMB season! I am an upcoming Senior in Music Education, and this will be my fourth and final season marching with the AUMB. I served as one of the drum majors last season, and before that, I was one of the mellophone section leaders. I was born and raised in Athens, Alabama and graduated from Athens High School in 2016. Although I marched mellophone, my major instrument is piano. In addition to marching band, I am also a member of the Symphonic Winds, a previous member of the Auburn University Chamber Choir, and I am a brother of the Pi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.

As a music major, the program here at Auburn has taken up a majority of my life, but it has definitely been worth it. The AUMB has been a huge part of my college experience, and I made so many new friends and had some of the best moments of my life thus far. I am so happy that you have decided to audition to be a part of this wonderful organization, and I look forward to meeting you and having a great season! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Trey Bruce

Trey Bruce - rgb0017@auburn.edu

War Eagle! My name is Trey Bruce, and I am thrilled to serve as one of the Drum Majors for the Auburn University Marching Band during the 2019 season! I am an upcoming senior from Birmingham, AL majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering. This will be my fourth and final season in the AUMB including two seasons marching as a trumpet player, and this past season as a Drum Major. In addition to the AUMB, I have participated in Basketball Pep Band for the past three seasons. I am also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, as well as other non-music organizations on campus such as RUF.

I have loved the AUMB for about as long as I can remember. One of my oldest memories of the band is watching the 2010 National Championship game and hearing the band play Party Like a Rockstar to get the crowd pumped up during a crucial video review. Marching band has always been one of my favorite activities, and I knew it was something that I wanted to continue doing at Auburn even though I am pursuing a career in Engineering. Being part of such a prestigious program and getting to serve something bigger than myself has been a huge blessing during my time at Auburn. If you have any questions about anything Auburn related please feel free to email me or connect with me through social media. I can’t wait to see all of you at preseason camp!!

Millie Livingston

Millie Livingston - aml0059@auburn.edu

War Eagle! My name is Millie Livingston and I am honored to serve as one of the Drum Majors of the Auburn University Marching Band for the 2019 season! I am from Birmingham, Alabama, and I am entering my Senior year, pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Outside of Marching Band, I am involved in various campus organizations such as The Oaks Retreat, RUF, and Panhellenic Sorority Alpha Omicron Pi.

I decided to become a member of the AUMB because I saw the deep tradition that the band is rooted in and the impact it has on the fans. I believe that the Auburn Marching Band is an integral part of what fuels the family spirit that makes Auburn unique, and I could not imagine missing out on an opportunity to be a part of that. I have learned so much from my time in the AUMB about responsibility, hard work, and giving to something bigger than myself. Being selected to lead the band this year is a humbling opportunity and a great privilege, and I look forward to serving alongside of you to make the band, the students and the Auburn Family proud. If you have any questions about the band, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me on Facebook, Instagram, or through email. I look forward to seeing you at preseason camp! War Eagle!

Hello and WAR EAGLE! My name is Melodi Shaw, and I am honored to serve as the flagline’s captain for this upcoming season of 2019-2020! I attended Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama, and I marched with the SPHS colorguard and winterguard for four years. Now, I’m a rising junior majoring in English Literature and minoring in Asian Studies. This will be my third season to march with the AUMB, and I am beyond excited! I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such a great program that has taught me a great deal. The ability to support our team in this unique way is a true privilege, and looking up at the crowd and seeing those bright stadium lights gives me the most exhilarating feeling. Beyond performing, the people I’ve met and friendships I’ve made have brought me such joy- Getting to see the lovely people of the AUMB every day is my favorite part of field season! Being on the flagline has certainly pushed me to be a better performer and to hold myself to high standard. In addition to marching with the band in the fall, I sing with the Auburn University Chamber Choir in the spring. However, next spring, I’m planning on studying abroad in Japan, as my dream for the future is to become a Japanese translator.

To those of you who are planning on auditioning to be a part of the Auburn Band Family, you will not regret it one bit! It’s tough and demanding, but it’s rich with life lessons and fantastic friendships, so it is worth so much! I’m here to help, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Cheers to a fantastic season!

Sydney Turner (Flagline Co-Captain) - sjt0018@auburn.edu

War Eagle, everyone! My name is Sydney Turner, and I am so excited to serve as your Tiger Eyes Flagline Co-Captain for the 2019-2020 marching season. I am a rising senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. I’m from Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Oak Mountain High School, and this will be my fourth year with the Auburn University Marching Band. Outside of the AUMB I am an active member of the American Institute of Graphic Art’s student chapter in Auburn, the Auburn Alumni Association’s student chapter, and work as a freelance graphic designer for many campus organizations.

I grew up tailgating and going to Auburn games with my family, and had no trouble deciding where I wanted to go to college, as it already felt like home here. Being a member of the AUMB has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and the highlight of my time at Auburn. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of an amazing program that allows you to connect with others, build new skills, and encourages growth in both your personal and academic life. I am extremely excited for what the 2019-2020 marching season has in store, and look forward to meeting all the new members of the band and getting to know you throughout the season! If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email, and I’d be more than happy to answer them. War Eagle, and welcome to the Auburn Family!
