Overview
The Auburn University Symphonic Winds Concerto Competition is open to full-time wind, piano, and percussion music majors who are enrolled in applied lessons at the time of the audition. The competition includes a pre-screen video round followed by a live final round featuring six selected performers. The winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize and perform as a featured soloist with the Auburn University Symphonic Winds or Concert Band during the Spring 2027 semester.

Eligibility
Open to full-time wind, piano, or percussion music majors at Auburn University who are enrolled in applied lessons at the time of the audition.
How to Apply
- Confirm your eligibility. You must be a full-time wind, piano, or percussion music major enrolled in applied lessons at the time of the audition.
- Select your repertoire. Choose one movement of a concerto (or work of similar significance), eight minutes maximum, with a published wind band accompaniment. This is the same piece you'll perform if selected for the live round; no substitutions later.
- Get your Applied Professor Permission Form signed. Have your applied instructor sign off, then have the form ready to upload here: Applied Professor Form.
- Record your pre-screen video. Upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video so you have a link ready for the application.
- Complete the online application. Submit your application using the link below, making sure to clearly indicate your repertoire and include your pre-screen video link.
- Upload your signed Applied Professor Permission Form. Attach it to your application; applications without it are considered incomplete.
- Submit before the deadline. Applications and pre-screen videos are due Tuesday, September 29, 2026, by 5:00 PM. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Watch your email. You'll receive a notification once your application has been reviewed. Allow at least 48 hours for processing.
Audition Requirements
- Applicants must prepare one movement of a concerto (or a work of similar significance) with a maximum duration of eight minutes. No exceptions.
- Audition repertoire must have a published wind band accompaniment.
- The performance repertoire must match the audition repertoire. No substitutions are allowed.
- Accompanists are not provided for the prescreen or live audition rounds but are strongly encouraged.
Pre-screen Round
The top six performers from the prescreen round will be selected to perform on the live audition performance on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, 7:00 PM Goodwin Recital Hall.
Winning Performance
The winner of the live audition round will perform on a Spring 2027 Symphonic Winds and Concert Band concert and receive a cash prize of $2,500.

- All applications and pre-screen videos are due Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, by 5:00 PM.
- Live Auditions: Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, 7:00 PM Goodwin Recital Hall.
- 1st Prize winner performance: Spring 2027.
