Marching Leadership Camp

June 12 - 15, 2024

The Auburn University Marching Leadership Camp focuses on developing leadership, musicianship, and teaching skills; improving conducting skills for beginning and advanced drum majors; and enhancing individual student impact on their marching band program. The Marching Leadership Camp is staffed by professional leadership/conducting clinicians as well as the directors and student leaders of the Auburn University Marching Band.

The program is open to 9th -12th graders who are Drum Majors or Section Leaders, or who aspire to become Drum Majors or Section Leaders.

The deadline for all 2024 Camp registration, paperwork and payment is May 15, 2024.

Release Form

Medication Management Form - Only for those who be bringing prescription medications to camp.  This form should be turned in at check-in with the student’s meds.

Drum Major Instructors

Dr. Nikki Gross - Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at Auburn University

Mr. Ethan Lolley - Former graduate assistant Auburn Bands, former drum major for the University of North Alabama, current conductor, and music director for the Symphony Orchestra of Norther Virginia

Mr. Aaron Thompson - Former head drum major for the Auburn University Marching Band. Current band director at Northdside High School in Columbus, GA

Mr. DeZayveon Dickerson - Former head drum major for the Auburn University Marching Band. current band director at Sanformd Middle School in Lee Co., AL.

Section Leader Instructors

Mr. Jeffrey Rowser - Former drum major for the Auburn University Marching Band. A 43-year career as a band director in Georgia public schools, and incoming band director at Woodward Academy in College Park, GA.

Mrs. Emily-Anne Nguyen - Former head drum major for the Auburn University Marching Band. Current band director at Hahira Middle School in Hahira, GA.

Camp Fees

4 day, 3 night

  • Resident - $400

What to Bring

  • Comfortable clothes and walking shoes (no flip flops!)
  • Bed linens for a twin bed (Extra long if possible)
  • Pillow and blanket
  • Bath towels and washcloths
  • Toiletry items
  • Spending money for souvenirs and snacks
  • Tennis shoes and sunglasses
  • Hat, sunscreen, and personal water bottle (no sharing)
  • Bathing Suit
  • Khaki shorts for the final performance
  • Instrumentalists should bring their instrument, including all accessories: reeds, neck straps, cork grease, valve oil, and so on.
  • If you are a percussionist, you should bring your sticks, mallets, and/or snare drums.
  • Auxiliary participants will need to provide their own equipment (e.g., batons, flag poles, skills, etc).
