Kathryn McArthur
Kathryn McArthur is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education at Auburn University, where she serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Auburn University Bands. A native of Gautier, Mississippi, she recently earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Mississippi State University, graduating as a Stephen D. Lee Scholar.
While at MSU, Kathryn was actively involved in both musical and campus life. She served as clarinet section leader in the Famous Maroon Band and held principal clarinet positions in the MSU Wind Ensemble and MSU Symphony Orchestra. She also performed with the Starkville/MSU Symphony, Clarinet Choir, Woodwind Quintet, and various chamber ensembles.
In addition to her performance experience, she was involved with the College of Education Ambassadors and campus tour organizations, supporting prospective and current students. Kathryn has also presented undergraduate research at both state and university-level conferences, exploring topics ranging from classical clarinet repertoire to the intersection of chamber music and popular culture.
Kathryn has worked with band students across Mississippi through her involvement with summer camps and honor ensembles. She served as a woodwind tech with the internationally recognized Mississippi Lions All-State Band, which has earned more than thirty-seven international championships. She has also worked with programs including Pearl High School, Gulfport High School, and Gautier High School.
Kathryn holds professional and academic memberships with the Mississippi Association of Educators, Phi Kappa Phi, and the National Educators Association.
