Symphonic Band


The Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Rick Good, is the premier performing ensemble of the Auburn University Band Department. A select group, the Symphonic Winds performs a broad and diverse repertoire of standard and contemporary wind literature. The ensemble was selected to perform at the 2014 College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference in Jacksonville, Florida and previously performed at the 65th Annual Convention of the American Bandmasters Association and the 2012 Alabama Music Educators Association Conference. The ensemble tours the Southeastern United States annually and recently completed a tour of China.

Membership in the Symphonic Winds is by audition and is open to any Auburn student regardless of major. The Symphonic Winds rehearse four times per week during fall semester and five times per week during spring semester. One hour of academic credit is awarded for participation. This credit may be used as an elective in any curriculum. Members of the Symphonic Winds supply their own formal attire for concerts. There is no other cost except tuition.
